SOLOMON BURKE hat gerade ein Video zu >None of us Are Free< abgedreht. Gefilmt von dem Regisseur der sich auch für Oasis' Wonderwall und Prodigys' Firestarter verantwortlich zeigte. Die zugehörende Single enthält eine live Aufnahme nebst Video von >Don't Give UP On Me< und den nicht veröffentlichten Song > I need a Holiday <

IKARA COLT sind ja - wie bereits berichtet - jetzt bei Epitaph unter Vertrag. Unter www.epitaph.com/bands/index.php?id=293 gibt es das brandneue Video zu > May B 1 Day #2 < zu bewundern.

EPITAPH - haben ihre Website (www.epitaph.com) komplett überarbeitet. Es gibt eine tolle Video "Ecke" in der man alle aktuellen Videos (die ja von unseren tollen Musiksendern immer abgelehnt werden) in Ruhe geniessen kann. Eine mit "Goodies" übertitelte Sektion unter der man e-cards, Icons, Photos, Cover etc. runterladen kann. Und natürlich alle Infos zu allen Bands. Schaut rein, ist wirklich sehr vorbildlich. Am Schluss dieser mail einige ausgewählte MP3 Adressen!

THE TRANSPLANTS - leider wird es hörbares Material erst kurz vor der V&OUML; geben. Einzig der Song.>Tall Cans In The Air< ist bereist als MP3 erhältlich (siehe unten). Hier nun Sänger ROB ASTON in seinen eigenen Worten über das TRANSPLANTS Debut (V&OUML;: 21.10.2002):
Tim Armstrong and myself (Rob Aston) formed TRANSPLANTS in December of 1999. I had just moved to Los Angeles and was hanging out with Tim when he played me this beat he had made on his Pro Tools System in his studio. It was incredible. Like nothing I had ever heard before. He asked if I could write lyrics to it, and without hesitation I said yes. Honestly, I was scared shitless because I had never been in a band before. Not to mention, I was dealing with Mr. Tim Armstrong from Rancid. Long story short, we recorded whenever we found time and gave it our all. But something was missing. Tim had played all the instruments by himself and the drums were samples and loops. We realized that we needed to find the best drummer we could. So we called up Travis Barker from Blink-182 and Boxcar Racer. We pitched him the idea and before even hearing the songs, he was on board. Travis came to the studio laid down his drum tracks in five hours and that was that. Now we have a record that we are proud of. With topics that range from murder ("Quick Death"), the passing of loved ones ("Sad But True"), to failed friendships ("We Trusted You"), we wrote songs that I think everyone can identify with for the most part. There's even a party song on the album ("Tall Cans in the Air"). Don't jump to conclusions though. It's by no means a happy/fun song. You're more likely to make an enemy than a friend with this one. Anyways, everyone goes through shit in life, some more than others. Some people choose to ignore it and think it will disappear. Not gonna happen. At least not while you're listening to the TRANSPLANTS record.

PRESSEMITTEILUNG - Daniel Lanois Signs To Anti

Storied producer/musician/songwriter Daniel Lanois has signed to Epitaph Records' Anti imprint, home to such noted artists as Tom Waits, Merle Haggard, and Solomon Burke. Lanois' as-yet-untitled fourth album and first for the label is due in January, according to his official Website.

"Daniel Lanois is one of the most fascinating artists of the rock era," Anti president Andy Kaulkin said in a statement. "His style is both instantly recognizable and completely original. We are very proud to be working with a true icon at the peak of his creativity."

The set will be Lanois' first studio release in nearly a decade and is the follow-up to 1993's "For the Beauty of Wynona" (Warner Bros.), which hit No. 26 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The album is said to be much in the vein of his past work, although more personal and spiritual in nature.

"My nomadic travels over the years have brought me much life experience, snapshots of which appear on this record," Lanois said of the album. "I've also rediscovered my first love: the steel guitar. I believe it has rescued me one more time."

In the last decade, Lanois has found himself mostly in the production role, working with such artists as U2 on the Irish quartet's lauded 2001 set "All That You Can't Leave Behind," which won him a Grammy and a Juno Award. He has also helmed albums for Bob Dylan ("Time Out of Mind," "Oh Mercy"), Peter Gabriel ("So," "Us," "Birdy"), and Willie Nelson ("Teatro"), and performed various instruments on those artist's releases as well.

Although unnamed, several songs are confirmed for Lanois' new collection, notably "Sometimes," which the label describes as "perhaps the thematic cornerstone of the album," and the stark "Sweet Soul Honey." Also slated for the set are several instrumentals, including the hymn-like pedal steel guitar track "JJ Leaves LA." The Los Angeles Times recently reported that "several of his star clients are expected to contribute vocals" to the album.

A native of Quebec who was last year inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Lanois is organizing a spring tour in support of the Anti album. A show at New York's famed Carnegie Hall is among the planned stops. His most recent live outing was a two-night performance in June as part of the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Barry A. BANNED FROM UTOPIA was formed in the summer of 1994 to perform at the Stuttgart Jazz Festival as a tribute to Frank Zappa. BFU is not merely a "tribute band", being just content trying to mimic the master... The tunes Frank wrote are a part of each member's body and soul, put there by years of rehearsal, recording, and concert appearances. BFU prides itself on keeping the Zappa tradition alive with a blend of spontaneity, virtuosity, and by blazing the studio with satirical music, which this world so sorely needs and misses. Elements of hard rock, jazz, funk, modern classical, country, and even rap/hip-hop are a part of BFU's musical language.

This compilation offers a selection of electronic music artists and bands from Central and Eastern Europe. A region where creativity and arts are flourishing more than anywhere else….Thanks to "Radio France International", the contest and its will to promote electronic music in this region, Le Maquis has been able to include some of those artists on this record. Every year, RFI organizes an international contest, the " Prix RFI Musiques Electroniques " A selection of jury's whose president "St.Germain" nominated the finalist and track now present on this compilation. This contest aims at promoting electronic artists from Central and Eastern Europe who nowadays don't have any access to the media and can hardly reach the Western European Record markets.
